From 27 April to 1 May 2026, Tashkent hosts the Central Asian Model OSCE 2026, a youth educational initiative bringing together 25 participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The programme is delivered through a diplomatic simulation—an interactive learning method that replicates international negotiations. Participants assume the roles of diplomats, respond to crisis scenarios, draft resolutions, and represent national positions. The Central Asian Model OSCE 2026 is organized by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan in co-operation with the OSCE Programme Offices in Astana, Bishkek and Dushanbe and is hosted by Nordic International University.

“Model OSCE provides young people with hands-on experience in diplomacy and negotiation, while deepening their understanding of international organizations. By bringing together participants from across Central Asia, the initiative contributes to stronger regional co-operation and supports youth engagement in addressing shared security challenges,” said Ambassador Antti Karttunen, OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan.

Over five days, participants engage with the work of the OSCE , discuss current security challenges and the role of youth in decision-making, and explore the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security.

“For me, participating in Model OSCE is an opportunity to better understand how international decisions are made and how diplomatic dialogue is conducted. As a journalist, I particularly value the chance to develop my public speaking, argumentation and analytical skills, as well as to exchange experiences with peers from across Central Asia,” said participant Nigora Ilolova from Tajikistan.

The programme emphasizes hands-on learning, including interactive sessions, diplomatic debates, and a full-scale simulation of the OSCE Permanent Council, where participants conduct multilateral negotiations on key agenda topics. Special attention is given to gender equality, inclusive participation, and the role of youth in peace and security.

The Central Asian Model OSCE 2026 provides participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in international diplomacy, supporting the development of negotiation skills, consensus-building, and constructive multilateral dialogue.
