About

This event will focus on the phenomenon of violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism, in particular on the distinction between radicalization and religious extremism; on identifying the role of religious communities, civil society and law-enforcement bodies in preventing and countering the threat of violent extremism and radicalization; on the main radical tendencies of non-traditional religious communities and the development of extremism in southern Kyrgyzstan; and on effective approaches to countering the threat of violent extremism and radicalization in southern Kyrgyzstan.

Representatives of the Osh, Batken and Jalal-Abad local administrations; state authorities, including the Anti-Terrorism Centre of the State Committee on National Security, the Interior Ministry, and the State Committee on Religious Affairs; as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and independent national experts in the fields of human rights, tolerance, women initiatives, religion and politics will take part in the seminar.
