About
This conference, which will take place about six weeks before the presidential elections scheduled for 23 July 2009, is a dialogue among all actors and stakeholders in the election process.
Participation by the CEC, government institutions, political parties, the media and civil society will contribute to eliminate a high level of mistrust in society regarding the forthcoming Presidential elections. At the conference, key actors in the election process will have the opportunity to discuss the current process and its weak points and thus create more trust.
A memorandum is expected to be signed by the CEC and ACSOVR, which will contain commitments to strictly observe election regulations and which will serve as a document of reference in cases of violation of the election law and infringement of their observers' rights.
Representatives of the CEC and local election commissions, the government, the ombudsman, political parties, civil society, mass media and international organizations are all invited to take part.
